Healthy Roots, Healthy Smile
Root canals located inside your teeth play an important role in the survival and health of the tooth. However, for various reasons, these root canals may become infected or damaged. At this point, endodontics is a branch of dentistry that treats the inside of the tooth and protects the root canals for a healthy smile. What is Endodontics?
Endodontics is a field of dentistry that deals with the treatment of soft tissue and root canals inside the tooth. This treatment is often necessary as a result of conditions such as toothache, infection or trauma. Endodontic treatments preserve the natural structure of the tooth, relieve pain and prevent tooth loss.- Endodontic Treatment ProcessEndodontic treatment usually consists of these steps:
- Examination and Diagnosis: The first step is a detailed examination and x-ray examination by the dentist. In this way, the nature of the problem in the tooth is determined and an appropriate treatment plan is created.
- Root Canal Treatment:During the treatment, infected or damaged root canals are cleaned, shaped and disinfected. The root canals are then filled and sealed.
- Restoration:After the root canal treatment is completed, the outer part of the tooth, the enamel and dentin, are properly restored. This allows the tooth to regain its normal function.
- Follow-up Checks: Regular follow-up checks are made after the treatment. During these checks, the healing process of the tooth is evaluated and additional treatments are applied if necessary.
